How to join a sorority

Joining a Panhellenic chapter can significantly contribute to your undergraduate experience at the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and Université de Saint-Boniface. Sororities encourage a lifelong commitment to intellectual, personal and social growth. As a member of one of our 3 chapters on campus, women will make lifelong friendships, find many leadership opportunities and give back to the community through both service and philanthropy.   Meeting the chapters is an essential part of joining our organization.  In September we host fall recruitment which is comprised of three events, or open houses, where you will get to meet individual sorority members and learn more about our three chapters on campus. Details on fall Recruitment for 2018 are now available on our registration page.

Open House Rounds

The first three days of recruitment consist of what we call Open House Rounds. This is three evenings within the same week where one of our Panhellenic neutral bodies will introduce you and your fellow Potential New Members to the women of each organization, so you can get to know them better, and they get to know you. You will spend 45 minutes with each sorority in order to be eligible for joining a group.  Otherwise, you are free to attend as many rounds as you like.  We strongly encourage you to meet each Sorority, each night to truly understand what makes each group so great!   All you have to do is be yourself, and come to University at 5:00 pm - we'll lead you the rest of the way.

Wear comfortable shoes!

Preference

This is an invitational round that happens on the Sunday after the last round. During this day, you will spend 1 hour with up to 3 sororities. A neutral body will be driving you to one of the active sorority member's home(s) for light refreshments, where you get to meet some of the alumnae. During this round, each sorority will give you a sneak peak of their sisterhood bond.

Bid Day

This is the last day of  Recruitment! On this day, you will be offered a bid (formal official invitation to join the sisterhood of an organization) from one of the sororities that has invited you to the Preferencial round. Today is when you get to find your way home to your new sisters!
